Pak Lah @ Kepala Batas

A normal Sunday afternoon became extraordinary with my up close encounter with our Prime Minister who came back to Kepala Batas (he is the MP of Kepala Batas) for an official visit. Amred with my camera, I joined several hundred cameramen at Dewan Milenium to catch him on photo. It was exciting, and it was a different kind of photoshoot experience for me and my camera Khaki.

The moment PM arrived, a big crowd surrounded him to greet him, and camera flashes went flickering. It is not easy to get this close to PM, but I was lucky somehow.

He is indeed the pride of Kepala Batas.

Pak Lah and the First Lady...

I somehow felt like a photographer from the media, trying to get a good shot for tomorrow's headlines (",)

Crossing from Penang Island to Mainland

Armed with my camera, I joined some overseas friends of mine to take a ride on the Ferry from Penang Island to the Mainland. Crossing the channel using the ferry is a historical transport means since perhaps 50 years ago.

This shot of the mariner yacht docking bay near Penang is a shot for my collection (",)

View of Butterworth from the ferry.

This is the ferry. The ferries are named after islands in Malaysia. This one is called Pulau Angsa (Goose Island). I heard a story that there was once a tourist to Penang, he waited for several hours for the ferry, and many ferries came and went, but he did not board them. Then the ticketing clerk approached him and asked him why he has been sitting there waiting for so long. He answered.. he was waiting for the Butterworth ferry (laugh).

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion @ Heritage Penang

My heritage tour photography session too me to Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. The mansion built by the merchant Cheong Fatt Tze at the end of 19th century has 38 rooms, 5 granite-paved courtyards, 7 staircases & 220 vernacular timber louvre windows. Other features of the house include Gothic louvered windows, Chinese cut and paste porcelain work, Stoke-on-Trent floor tiles, Glasgow cast iron pillars and Art Nouveau stained glass. Beautiful...

Rickshaws versus Trishaws

At the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion @ Heritage Penang, there is a line up of Rickshaws and Thrishaws. These makes good photo objects.

Peranakan Wedding @ Heritage Penang

Recently, together with my photography Khakis, we made a short tour of Heritage Penang for the sake of our hobby. We made a brief stop at the Penang Peranakan Mansion. At this place, they can make your wedding special by taking it back in time to those olden Peranakan days.
A Peranakan Wedding... brings back those nostalgic feeling (not that I am that old), though my grandparents are Baba and Nyonya (",)
During our visit, there was a wedding ceremony in action.

Another Propeller Story...

In another flight on a propeller plane...
I tried out my camera again on slow shutter speed...
and then on fast shutter speed...

but the brand positioning did not enable the brand of the propeller to be visible (smile).

The Brand of the Propeller...

Testing out my camera in the plane. I was amazed that at high shutter speed, I could even capture the brand of the propeller while the plane is in mid-air. Amazing.
